Botox has been on the market for over 30 years for the treatment of numerous medical conditions. It was approved for cosmetic purposes 20 years ago. There has been extensive research done with respect to its multiple uses, effectiveness and long safety profile.
Dr. Joanne Cohen has been performing botox treatments since it came to market in Canada in 2002. Her expertise is treating the upper face, the unwanted lines and creases of the frown area (between the brows), the forehead, and the crow’s feet (area beside the eyes). When you frown, or raise your eyebrows or smile, these movements initially create lines. Over time these lines become creases due to the thickening of the muscle. Botox Cosmetic will block or weaken the movement of these facial muscles, resulting in the muscles getting smaller. In turn, creases soften and lines disappear, resulting in a more youthful, relaxed appearance.
Dr. Cohen’s approach is always to achieve a natural look. Initially the treatment will last 3 to 4 months. In order to maintain the result, clients are advised to re-treat the area as it is wearing off. Over time, the treatment tends to last longer.
